Amandla means power.

We celebrate Pan-Africanism.

5th and 6th grade students in our Panther classroom are nominated by mentors, parents, teachers and community members into the Amandla program. Our students build power and develop relationships with young Africans and Africans in the Diaspora from around the world. The Amandla program exposes young people to global, current and historical Black freedom dreams.

Travel to Ghana.

This year’s cohort will travel to Ghana in the summer of 2023. Amandla students will develop pen pal relationships with students from Cape Coast Presbyterian School in Cape Coast, Ghana before we meet in person. Amandla participants meet for after school sessions and two Saturdays monthly. This program requires participation from an adult that loves and cares the young person in the program. We want to ensure that we develop a program that reflects the values and principles of young people in our program. We are a Black centered and Black affirming program that builds upon the Black Radical Tradition and the Nguzo Saba.

“This experience has changed my life forever.”
